After passing through the intersecion of Walnut and Maynard the speed limit is 35. People are pulled in either direction. It is difficult to maintain this speed.

Maynard Road near Church Parking Lot

Cary, North CarolinaAug 16, 20070 Comments

Cary Police park their vehicles in the church parking located on NW Maynard. Police officers like to sit at the curch parking lot which is located between walnut st and kildaire farms rd. The speed limit on this road is 35 mph. Brakes must be applied while going downhill on Maynard. It is easy to reach speeds greater than 45 mph, even when the gas is not applied. The slope of the road is steep enough to exceed speeds higher than the speed limit. At least once a month, about two cary cops like to hide in that parking lot or surrounding neighborhoods, like Pirates Cove.

Louis Stephens Road near Morrisville Parkway

Cary, North CarolinaJun 13, 20070 Comments

This area was originally a 45mph zone. Residents lobbied to have changed to 35mph from Morrisville-Carpenter Rd to Morrisville Parkway. At the bottom of the hill up to Morrisville Parkway, it is a school zone with 25mph limit (and year round school). I live just next to this area and have seen marked, unmarked, SUV, car, motorcycle, Laser+Ka Band. I’ve personally seen at least 30 cars pulled in this area.

This is a 4 lane road with a hill, so 35mph is very tough to do. 25mph is extremely difficult on the downhill part (I have to stay in 2nd gear and still brake).

At the bottom of the hill near the United Methodist Church, also near Cary High School, is a common place to be stopped.

Davis Drive near High House Road

Cary, North CarolinaJun 08, 20070 Comments

The Cary PD has patrol cars and motorcycles on Davis Drive regularly. Coming from High House towards Morrisville, the cops like to sit in the grass behind the birms that back up to Prestonwood. They also like to use motorcycles at the bottom of the hill coming towards High House – they have actually added one of the radar signs there that tells you your speed as you pass. I have seen the Wake Co. Sheriff’s Dept. cars on Davis Drive too.
