East Bend, North Carolina Speed Traps
State Highway 67 near Town Limit
Town cop sits stationary in a low profile Police Car in a used car lot running radar. When traffic enteres the corporate limits speeding he will move his car forward to create a "scanning" effect to increase a violation speed so that he can write a ticket for a higher speed. He likes to "bump them up" between 2 – 5 miles per hour so that he can then say that he saw you "speed up" which in most instances will place you in a mandatory court appearance speed. (15 or more over the posted speed) This officer’s court docket rarely shows fewer than 60 speeding tickets. Certified Radar Operators in this State are advised not to "lock on" their radar since the vehicle operator does not have the right to see his speed.
