Havelock, North Carolina Speed Traps
Heading into Havelock on lake rd (9 mile) from hwy 24
Havelocks finest sits behind the 35 mph sign and shoots his radar up the road where it is 45 mph. You don’t know if he hit you when you passed the 35 mph sign or it was farther up the road. My New Bern lawyer says he is well known with the court system. Young guy, wouldn’t lower the mph’s even a couple for me. I am a retired Marine and support the police and sheriffs depts. Plate on my car. He could care less. Craven County. I haven’t had a ticket in many years. His location he put on the ticket is not where he was sitting!!!
Highway 101 going into Havelock
The speed limit changes from 55 to 45 and then 35 shortly after that. The area is known as a speed trap . Sometimes there is one patrol car parked in the area, sometimes there might be two or three, just waiting for the next driver who doesn’t slow down quickly enough.
US Highway 70 near McCotter Boulevard
Troopers sit in median facing both east and west clocking. This is the middle of the long curve in the stretch between Newport and Havelock. If there are none there they WILL be patroling that area.MARKED AND UNMARKED! from interceptors to suburbans.
US Highway 70
US70 coming from New Bern goes from 70 to 50 very quickly. I was stopped at 6am on a Saturday going to do volunteer work. I probably was going about 5 miles over the speed limit, but the cop said 20. That’s quite a trick on my part since I was slowing down to look at hotels. When I went to fight my ticket they had ticketed a pregnant woman for doing 34 in a 30. Gotta pay for those public buildings!
Mocotter Blvd
People always go very fast and even pass on the dubble yellow line on Mocotter Bulv. Its only 35 mph and my mother-in-law got hit by a mortercycle Oct. 15, 2003.
