Morehead City, North Carolina Speed Traps

As you enter Morehead City via US 70 the speed limit goes from 55 to 35 and the roads are packed with vactioners. The scenery changes from boring to beautiful coastal waterway and you are distracted and do not notice the change in speed limit and you unconsciously pace the other cars who also have not noticed the speed limit change. There are Morehead City police officers lining the road to catch anyone going over 35 mph. The police officer who pulled me over was so close to my bumper I did not see her as my mini-van was packed with vaction supplies. When I did notice the lights (no siren) I thought surely the officer must be on the way to some major wreck or catastrophy as I am going the same speed as everyone else. I sped up to let her by as the traffic was bumper to bumper. When I pulled over I was completely shocked that the reason I was being tailgaited was to give me a speeding ticket. I hired a lawyer to fight this ticket as this location is not near my home. I received a prayer for continuance and have to drive under the speed limit now no matter what the circumstances as I cannot afford a speeding ticket. Our family will no longer vacation in or near Morehead City again.
