Morganton, North Carolina Speed Traps

double gates. Watch out!

Heading west on I-40 once you pass exit 107 be careful. There is a green exit 106 sign on your right and the hwy patrol loves to sit there and get you on that little down grade. I have seen lots of people pulled in this speedtrap. You can guarantee if the lights go on you have yourself a ticket. Seems they are worse in the western part of the state for ticket writing.

This trap was worked extensively in the ’70s. The road is posted 25, but you can easily coast doing 40 traveling South toward E. Union St. (US-70 Bus.). The police (City) sit in the gravel lot on the right at the bottom of the hill.

The road is posted 35, but you can coast faster than that. It was once posted 55. The officers, usually City, will hide in the weeds near the intersection with W. Parker Rd. on the West side of the road. If traveling South reduce speed, or check speed, before crossing bridge over I-40.
