Southbound US1 (Capital Blvd) just before downtown

Raleigh, North CarolinaMar 20, 20030 Comments

Driveing southbound US 1 aka Capital Blvd, after Wade. Ave joins but before the road splits (and changes names) there is a "Reduce speed sign" before a bridge. Just after the bridge, there is a 35 mph speed limit sign on the far side of a feeder road. IT IS HIDDEN IN TREES! There is a state parking lot, with the enterence just before the train bridge, where RPD hide. Got hit here, cost me in insurance (and pride) more than anything.

Here they will park up form the Library where you cannot see them untill your in there lline of sight. Rarely do I find Traffic going the posted 35 mph. Traffic flows at about 45 mph. mostly on Sundays and Evening hours you will find them hiding there.

I-540 near U.S. 70 Interchange

Raleigh, North CarolinaFeb 25, 20030 Comments

Watch it coming through this area. I passed through there about 10am headed toward I-40 from Leesville. Approached the 70 interchange, and could see a blue and white car (same color as Raleigh PD Crown Vics…no light bar, no markings, no nothing but faded paint)parked on left shoulder with the hood up. There was, however, someone sitting in the car. Pass that guy and the overpass, and there are SEVEN RPD cruisers waiting for you!!!! The NCSHP likes to hang out in the same spot, but I’d never seen this many RPD out there….watch yourself!!!!

Raleigh PD on Harleys hiding beside pillars in median shooting inbound traffic. Steep hill @45mph, keep it there, you might want to keep it a little lower if possible.Never been stopped, but see blue lights frequently.

440 Beltline between Lake Boone Trail & Glenwood Ave

Raleigh, North CarolinaSep 04, 20020 Comments

Be Careful on the 440 beltline, a month or so ago the Raleigh PD put a white chevrolet truck with a police officer in it in the inside shoulder of the beltline and clocked motorists. He then radioed to motorcycle officers to actually pull them over. Also i have noticed that the motorcycle officers are in full force on the beltline 10am-1pm. Posted Speed limited is 60mph, traffic flows at about 75mph. Speedlimits are enforced in NC for revenue NOT safety.
