Rural Hall, North Carolina Speed Traps
US 52 & Moore-RJR Exit (bridge)
Occasionally and mostly around holiday weekends the highway patrol stands on the bridge clocking people in both directions and then dispatches officers after the offending vehicles. It is not unusual to see as many as 5 cars pulled over on either side of 52 when they do this.
US 52 south of Hwy. 65
North and south-bound lanes are divided by a natural area with trees and shrubbery covering power poles and other utility equipment. WS police cruisers and State Troopers love to hide in the area watching both north and south-bound traffic. They routinely use this area as a turn-around as the rest of the highway is divided by cables. The speed limit is 65 and it is generally followed but doing 75 without realizing it is very easy to do.
US 52 north of Rural Hall at Westinghouse Rd.
US 52 entrance ramp from Westinghouse Rd. just north of Hwy. 65 Rural Hall exit is seperated from the highway by trees and shrubbery. State Troopers and DMV officers love this cover. If you’re speeding through here, you probably won’t see them until they’re on your bumper. It is outside any city limits so you won’t see any police cruisers. DMV officers rarely pull vehicles other than commercial trucks but don’t be fooled. They have every right and the power to issue tickets.
