The fact there is no speed limit sign on Thunder Road technically it is a 35 mph zone. If you Leave Spindale you are leaving a 45 mph zone which has a sign. If you leave Rutherfordton you are leaving a 45 mph zone. The state of North Carolina states this road has a 55 mph rating.

A 35MPH speed is set as you come down a steep grade on a 5 lane road that should be set at at least 45MPh. Police set in multiple spots on this road and very discreet about where they are sitting running front and rear radar.

Police sit on the shoulder of HWY 74 below th bi-lo store it goes from 55 mph to 45 mph near there.

The officers sit at or near the overpass below the high school. They clock you from behind. They also have a motorcycle cop that you cannot see till its too late.
