Siler City, North Carolina Speed Traps
The speed limit on US Hwy. 64–on either side of Siler City–is 65 MPH. The city limits on both sides of the city start well before the city itself appears, yet the speed limit drops to 45 MPH notwithstanding the fact that nobody lives on the outskirts of this small byway town. There is a state highway patrol office about a mile from the western city limit on US-64. City police perch on hills at both ends of the city limits and "pop" drivers as soon as they cross from the 65 MPH to 45 MPH zones. I have been stopped once for going 65 in the 45 zone, but the ticket was thrown out because I was clocked going 65 only ten feet into the 45 MPH zone.
Fairly straight two-lane road leading into town. After turning off from the highway, it’s very east to fly here, and cars are easily clocked coming down the hill.
