Southern Pines, North Carolina Speed Traps
The "Dunroven" section of US #1
Between Lakeview and Old US #1 heading into Southern Pines has become quite a speed trap in the last year, heavily monitored by the NC Highway Patrol
E Connecticut
Speed on this street outside the town limits is 55 mph and suddenly decreases to 35 mph while in the town limits. Police often camp-out at bottom of S-curve where traffic is often either coming down the hill leaving Southern Pines or as they’re coming back from Ft. Bragg at 55mph.
Morganton Road
As one is coming into Southern Pines via Morganton Road from 15-501, the speed limit changes from 45 to 35. Many tickets are given there.
Central Dr & Pine Cone Way
The speed limit changes from 45 mph to 35 mph as the driver moves south on Hwy 22 past its junction with Pee Dee Road. Police wait on the right side of Hwy 22 heading north, and also use moving radar.
Pee Dee Rd & Newton Dr
This site is actually used to train police radar operators. The speed limit falls from 45 mph to 35 mph as the driver enters Pee Dee Road from Highway 22. Police wait on the right side of the road in a blind curve. Coverage is also good from the opposite direction because of an obscuring rise.
