Wendell, North Carolina Speed Traps

The 30 mph zone between the Fire Station and Selma Rd. will soon be increased to 35 mph. Yipee! Officers are kind in this town, so cut ’em some slack.

Highway Patrol sits there in the evening at the bottom of the hill. Used to be 55 now they changed it to 45, when you come over hill from Wendell heading west toward Raleigh they get you.

As the post above stated; the speed limit changes from 45 to 35 just before you get to the Food Lion. Keep your eye’s open, because the speed limit changes to 30mph (just past Mcdonalds) once you get to the fire station across from the IGA grocery store. The cops like to sit in the parking lot of the fire station, as well as the lot of the IGA store. Also: cops like to park in the lot right next to the gas station across the street from Mcdonalds.

Once you make it most of the way through Wendell, (while still on 64/Wendell blvd) the speed limit gos back up to 35mph. However, keep an eye on your speed because they like to sit in a parking lot on the right. (just past the small gas station on the left side of the road) They also like to sit hiding in the trees just over the hill (on the left) past the white, single story Mortex building.

Note: The police in Wendell don’t always have a whole lot to do, so if you find yourself rolling into town past 9pm you can expect a police car to suddenly pull out of a parking lot and start following you. One thing to note however, the police in Wendell tend to be kind, courteous and helpful. They also just happen to like writing tickets.

Beware drivers if you are coming into Wendell. If you are coming off hwy 64 and take business 64, becareful of the speed limit. it goes from 55mph and when you get to the ford dealership and the church on the corner at the light watch your speed. cops like to hide at the top of the hill and clock your speed. these redneck hill billies think they own the town as well.Also once you get to where it goes from 45mph to 35mph and you pass the food lion watch it there also. the sit right when you pass the brush of tress, and if you are not careful Bam!! redneck police will nail ya. also at the IGA just past mcdonalds…just do the speed limit through this lonely town and you will be ok. i have never had a ticket in all the years of driving and i hope i dont.
