I received a ticket for going 40 in a 25MPH zone. I saw the 40 sign and slowed to 40, as did a pickup truck ahead of me, but did not see any sign for 25 MPH. A sheriff’s car came out of somewhere and we stopped, as did the truck. However, when the officer came to our window, the truck took off. The officer did not appear to care. I paid the fine by mail, after protesting that I did not see the sign, and then discovered it on my driving record about a year or more later. I wrote the governor of N. Dak. and suggested that law enforcemnt be taken out of the local sheriff’s jurisdiction, or the highway moved.

Incidentally, we are residents of California, which I suspect drew the attention of the officer.
