Oakes, North Dakota Speed Traps

One officer from the Oakes PD will sit on either side of the HWY 1 and run radar in the 35 zone sout of Oakes. He will sit off the road a short ways and be blacked outed and you won’t see him till it’s to late.

One cop, usually our well-known local deputy, likes to sit right on the other side of the thresher hill and nail people doing over the speed limit, make sure you are buckled up and not speeding since he gets you right at the top of the hill. It’s the hill north on 1 next to the mafia bridge turn.

Local Police patrol this highway very well, and the signs don’t lie, "Speed Limit Strictly Enforced"!!! They patrol this area even more during the school year, since the elementary school is right along the highway. This area is considered a school zone, and 1 mile over the 25mph limit, starts at $40!!!!!
