Andover, Ohio Speed Traps

The section of S.R. 85 from the square to the Village line is NOW posted 25 mph If you check your gps it registers a 35 mph speed limit on this section of highway with the limit raising to 40 mph at the village line The officer in question was facing west bound sitting outside of the village limits clocking into the village . As I was approaching the village limit I was accelerating into the 40 mph limit and was clocked and ticketed for 39 in a 25. Please remember two thing the limit has been arbitrarily reduced by the village and the officer was outside of his jurisdiction when he clocked me . As an ex- law enforcement officer I did not fight this ticket because I was technically guilty of the offence but I also feel that the village is taking advantage of the situation in its enforcement also the ticket is administered through a Mayors Court which is I believe to be partial to the village coffers. Also the officer was OUTSIDE of his jurisdiction at the time which I believe is taking undue advantage of the law allowing traffic enforcement on highway adjacent to their jurisdiction.

Andover is a small town with no traffic lights but has a full time police force. The speed limit into town is 25 mph and is 35 mph on the way out of town. I got a ticket today for going 42 mph in the 35 mph zone even though I was in a long line of traffic all going the same speed. Just avoid the town all together.

got a speeding ticket for 39 in a 25 I have to pay the ticket but I don’t know that I was speeding or I was not, either way its the only 25 speed limit out there. and the police sit after mcdonalds and wait for people, I havnt had a ticket in 16 years and I was given no warning just a ticket .

State Park Rangers have jurisdiction over this streach of Rt. 85 and set in the pulloff on the causeway and clock both east and westbound traffic. Also the streach of Pymatuning Lake rd. both north and south of Rt 85 are park controlled and subject to enforcement by the Rangers. (which they do very readily). A true frustration to those of use who have been subjected to crime within the park while they have been running traffic on the streets surounding it.
