Canton City Police Department – As a measure to not lay off Canton City Police, officials from the city of Canton, along with the leadership of the patrolman union, agreed to begin heavily ticketing speeders on the Interstate highway. During the first two weeks of January, 2010, it is not uncommon to see three Canton City squard cars in the U-turn area of the median at one time. Prior to the pact with the patrolmen, this area of Interstate 77 was monitored for speeders by the Ohio Highway Patrol. At times it looks like a war zone with all the black and whites.
I- 77 & Park Dr
Entering 77 North from FULTON RD. Heavy traffic because this is the Pro Football Hall of Fame departure exit Northbound. NO SPEED LIMIT SIGNS POSTED anywhere on 77 between Fulton Rd. and the thick of Belden Village. The first speed limit sign is not posted until you hit the Kent/Stark State Exit. Anyone out of state wouldn’t have a clue as to the limit. DO NOT drive to keep up with traffic. Speed limit is 55. If you stay to fight the ticket, expect 1-3 court dates to do so; the first one being set 2 weeks after receiving the ticket. I asked the officer if there was a sign posted, from where I got on, he stated: yes ma’am, two. It’s an OBVIOUS speed trap!
I77 N, Belden Village St Exit 109A
