Maysville Williams Rd in front of elementary middle schools

Logan, OhioMar 20, 20170 Comments

When driving on Maysville Williams Rd. in Logan, Ohio toward Rt. 33, there is a speed trap in front of the elementary/middle school complex. Before the school the speed limit is 45 per hour on a narrow, curvy and twisty road. As you go up a hill and turn a curve you see the speed limit change to 25 mph and 15 feet further there’s the school speed sign of 20 mph. The school speed sign is at the entrance to the elementary school parking lot. There is no advance warning and no time to slow down. You don’t see the schools or the school sign until you are at the schools. A police car sits in the middle school parking lot and the officer aims the radar gun in the direction of the school speed limit sign. He/she clocks you as you are about to slow down or just started to slow down. It is virtually impossible for you to be traveling at the 20 mph school speed limit. The scam has been perfected and used so many times that you are barely past the school complex and the officer is behind you with lights flashing. You get a speeding ticket for at least $145. Unless you know the schools are there are start slowing down while in the 45 mph zone, the radar will read over the speed limit.

LPD looks for drivers heading east past super Wal-Mart

Logan, OhioFeb 17, 20110 Comments

The speed here is posted as 35, but the sign is located west of the Wal-Mart store and Bob Evans restaurant. Leaving the shopping center to proceed east, there is no offering of a sign to display the speed limit. Many drivers accelerate to 45 here without that reminder.
