Lorain, Ohio Speed Traps
East Erie Road
LPD will sometimes set up a speedtrap on East Erie Ave. in the neighborhood of St. Anthony’s Church in the morning hours. If the school zone sign is flashing, the speed limit is 25mph. Otherwise the speedlimit is 35mph for the entire road.
Root Road near Sterling Road
Root Road is designated as a 25mph limit due to it’s residential zone. Many people do 35 and over. Occasionally, a LPD Office (usually a rookie), will sit in sterling drive waiting to pounce on his prey. If you do over 35, you will probably get a ticket.
East Erie Road
Usually by Century Park or Dairy Queen, a LPD unit will be running his laser late at night. Lorain police cars are black and very hard to see when it gets dark, so they will hide in dark areas to try and catch you.
State Route 611, Between State Route 58 and Kolbe Road
Police sit in beer distributor parking lot on the South side of State Route 611 and clock travel in either direction.
Broadway Ave at 13th St.
While traveling southbound on Broadway Avenue, a marked police car with LASER will sit parked on the south side of the Nardini RR bridge and will clock southbound travelers. Northbound travelers should be able to see the policeman in time and slow down, however, southbound travelers cannot see the policeman sitting there until they are under the bridge and in direct sight of him.
