Rte 241 Southbound as you turn West onto Rte 172

Massillon, OhioMar 21, 20180 Comments

In Massillon, as you travel south on Rte 241 (the speed limit is 35 mph), Rte 241 turns westbound onto Lincoln Way (Rte 172). One must travel 6 blocks to find out that the speed limit has dropped to 25 mph. The Police will catch you at block #3 before you reach the 25 mph speed limit sign. Massillon only has two speed limit 25 signs along Lincoln Way westbound. One before Rte 241 joins Rte 172 and then the one 6 blocks later.

This section of road has been newly paved. The speed limit outside of the corporation is 55 mph, inside corporation is 50 mph, then 35 mph with fencing and private properties within 50 feet from the roadway on both sides.I think the city of Massillon needs money to pay for the newly paved road, and this seems like the only way to get it.

It’s a 25MPH street and people rarely stay under the speed limit. The police are alway enforcing this.

State Route 21 North Bound near State Route 241 Bridge – Overpass

Massillon, OhioOct 14, 20070 Comments

North & South of Massillon on SR-21 the speed limit is 65MPH, but through Massillon (Tiger Town) it is only 50MPH. This alone makes the entire stretch of SR-21 a speed trap. However, cruisers especially like to set on the North Bound side just pass the SR-241 bridge, before Oberlin Road Exit, because the road bends at this point and you cannot see them until it is to late. Also, they are known to set with all there lights off at night making it that much harder to see them.
