Along St.Rt.32 Westbound between Sardina and St.Rt. 68

Mount Orab, OhioApr 11, 20140 Comments

Airplane supposedly monitoring speed from 10,000ft up. Three to four state trooper’s Chev. Mailbu’s lined up along Rt 68 WB ramp and stopping speeders just past St Rt 68 on St. Rt. 32. Beware this smooth and light traffic highway could easily have you going 80mph., but the speed limit is just 60mph.

Avoid the whole town like the plague if you can! Speed traps galore! Even if you’re right, the cops and town administration are crooked so you won’t get a fair shake. Best to just not go there at all.

Edge of south end of town

Coming in to Mt. Orab on US 68 from the south, there is a sign saying “Reduced Speed Ahead.” About 40-50 feet past this is the sign announcing you are entering Mt. Orab along with several other signs. Buried in this collection is the 40 MPH speed limit sign and sitting on the opposite side, obscured by the signs, is the cop, waiting for out-of-town cars to come through.

Mt. Orab is undergoing alot of development and road construction in lieu of that they have closed alot roads going one way but the other way it is closed but for the average person maybe who is not familiar or a resident of the area it can be confusing that is how I got this ticket. I was going to the bank on the west side of the town out on old 32 I crossed over the bridge which is undergoing improvements I noted before crossing the bridge that there was a police car sitting there unaware of his purpose at the time. The bridge is one lane due to the construction, normally in my experience when a bridge is one way there is a means to control the flow of traffic going across the bridge in opposing directions but at this site you can go across westbound but it is closed for eastbound traffic. So after doing my transaction at the bank on the westside of town I proceeded back the way I came not knowing that the bridge was closed to east bound traffic. As I crossed the brige eastbound I found out the purpose of the police car there he already had 1 or 2 guys pulled over as i finished crossing he motioned me over. I still did not know why we were being pulled over as the officer wrote out the tickets to the other cars he called for another officer his sergeant to come and write my ticket I protested tactfully because of the way the bridge is set up for traffic. After getting home I called and spoke with the mayor of Mt. Orab he basically stated that they had put up signs to stop east flow traffic at the bridge and that it was basically ODOT’S problem or design. I then called ODOT and asked why they had designed the traffic flow that way they said just the opposite, “that the original design submission had a light at the bridge like is normally the case to control the flow of traffic going both ways but the town of mt orab council didnt want that for a variety reasons not stated.” In summation I believe this is a speed trap because the way it set up along with being confusingly dangerous especially for people not familiar with the area they should have more of a physical barrier to stop east flow traffic on the bridge other than a sign that looks like it is not even in use furthermore instead of having the police officer waiting on the opposite end of the bridge to write tickets to people when they should be directing traffic or make it so you cannot cross eastbound other than just a sign that looks inactive. I went to Mt. Orab mayors court and was found guilty, it didn’t surprised me due to this being a complicated situation ,but it was still totally wrong I think I read somewhere that they were debating either in the Ohio supreme court that mayor’s court was unconstitutional I see why that is the case. I know this was kind of rambling but I thought it had to be explained thank you for your time.
