60 residents, 14 "Officers", a $443,000 annual spending plan, which includes $327,000 for the New Rome Police Department…a TRUE speed trap. Years of corruption and missing funds… A state audit currently in process may help shut this place down. There is a great web site run by a gentleman who was wronged in New Rome: http:www.newromesucks.com He is in the process of gathering people for a Class Action Lawsuit against New Rome for their abuse of the people of Franklin County. i pulled into the advanced auto the officer pulled in ran my plate and left . but not far just across the road in the dark with no lights on i pulled out went up the alley where he pulled in behind me and then turned on all of his lights i.e. [head lights and strobes] nothing until then. I also paid my fine off in full and they took my ticket and threw it away and now they want me to pay the ticket again.

New Rome has the most ridiculously hardball, petty police department that i have ever seen. They will literally pull you over for going the speed limit and lie and say you going two miles over! This place is so corrupt that you should avoid it at all costs.

The comments by the New Rome "officer" is IN ERROR. New Rome "officials" and "officers" are local "terrorists" who use their power to threaten, intimidate, abuse, anyone who happens down W. Broad St. (Rt.40). This township is controlled by a small group of family and friends who thrive on the power they wield. If you are one of the unlucky people who are pulled over, you WILL be immediately advised of who has the power – THEM. These people have the power to destroy another person – they have done so, they will continue to do so. I personally have complained about them on a city, state and federal level.
