Small town police force exist to generate money. My daughter was picked up for turning "right on red" at a stoplight…$115.00 fine. Tonight, I was picked up by the Port Jefferson police for a "rolling stop" on a back street during a snow storm. $115.00 fine!! My first traffic ticket in 38 years of driving. I will now be avoiding this town completely and advise everyone else to also.

The one-man police force sits at the west end of town on SR47. He is hidden off the road just before you leave the 35MPH zone, so be careful. The newest twist is instant on radar.

This is a small community with 321 residents per 2000 US Census reports. They apparently have at least two full-time officers "enforcing" law and order. The officers sit at various locations that are obvious traps for unwitting drivers. The main trap is outbound Hwy 47 on either end of town, which appears less than one mile long.

A small little town with two stop lights, when you see the sign that says 35mph… do 35mph. The police have a zero tolerance rule and enjoy sitting at one end of town or the other and watching for people to fly through their little burg.
