Lake Breeze Rd. between Lake and the RR Tracks

From Lake Rd., south to the tracks (city limits) is a 25 mph zone. The police often sit on the east side of Lakebreeze near the tracks or in a field on the west side of Lake Breeze. They’re usually there in the early AM when it’s still dark. They’re usually targeting south bound commuters on their way out of the city.

Small town indeed. The one stoplight is a blinking light now…No crime, just cops driving around turning radar on and off quickly. Radar detectors work if other traffic is around. Sometimes they set up stationary speed trap off to the side where you can’t see them until it’s too late. Usually, that is only where it changes from 35 mph to 25 mph by the shopping center. Watch out, no breaks in this poverty stricken town.

Sheffield Lake cops run radar all day and night. It is a small town, only one stoplight, and they must get most of their revenue from speeding tickets. I am the one who goes to court just to see if the cop will show. I went to plead not guilty and got my court date set. I went on my date to the lorain county courthouse, since the damn town is so small. The Sheffield Lake prosecutor kept postponing my case and looking out the window. After all the cases had been called, about three hours into the session, with no cop there, he came up to me and asked if i wanted to plead guilty to unsafe driving and not get any points, just pay the fine. I asked him why could I not plead not guilty since the officer never showed? He told me this was a pretrial and I would have to come back (I found out later I already had my pretrial). I already took two half days off work for this, so I paid the fine. Watch out for the Sheffield Lake prosecutor. He will lie to you as he did to me. I don’t know if that is against the law or not, but he is on my black list.
