41 South in South Charleston

South Charleston, OhioMay 24, 20120 Comments

State Route 41 drops from 55 MPH down to 35 MPH heading into town. After about 300 or so yards heading into South Charleston, there is a school zone that is 20 MPH. Police officers like to park cruisers in the school zone and face north catching anyone not down to the posted 20 MPH when the school zone begins.

They usually wait on a cross street right after you pass the 35 mph speed limit sign, although I have seen them actually hide in the cemetery along the fence line. They are looking for you to still be slowing down to 35 after you pass the sign.

Village of South Charleston. Police sit in gravel lot on West side of Route 42 at South end of village at the end of a long, rural 50mph zone. This is just before the speed limit increases to 55mph.

This Village has a lot of untrained police officer that can not do the job as a polce officer and they only know how to write a ticket. they will stop you of 3 to 5 MPH over the speed limit. I know that they do this type of enforcement I used to work for the department. They do not follow the training set up by the state. They refuse to train the officers with fire arms and everything else they use day to day. They are known for not having the radars checked yearly and will still be writing tickets on the radars. If laser, make sure you fight the ticket and request all training records of the officer to make sure he can even be working on the road as a patrol officer in the state of Ohio and carring a fire arm.
