Sunbury, Ohio Speed Traps

Heading into Sunbury from Galena on Columbus Street.
The welcome to Sunbury sign is close to the road, the speed limit is further off the road than most speed limit signs are.

You are driving 45 and then all of a suddren there is sign that many people miss because it is masked by the welcome Sunbury. As you past that sign and attempting to slow down, there is a city patrolman sitting with his point pointing in your direction aith a radar gun on the left and there is no way to slow down fast enough as the other 25 mph sign that is posted directly across the street from the patrolman and it is standing high and in plain sight.

On Columbus St., out of Sunbury south to Galena. The speed limit is EXACTLY 25mph on Columbus St., then as you get just outside the village of Sunbury it becomes a whopping 45mph, but for only another minute or two, before it drops off back to 25mph as you enter Galena. I’ve seen cops before and after the 45mph sign postings.

This area is very heavily traveled. I have seen as many as 7 Sheriffs sitting in plain site southbound just waiting. I would recommend staying out of the fast lane during early evening and staying within the posted limit from this exit on into Columbus
