I very often see police in the evening on the south side of Bancroft either in the parking lot near Maxwells or in front of the University of Toledo with radar on.

I-75 From the Michigan line Southbound

Toledo, OhioDec 30, 20121 Comments

A gauntlet of State Patrol, Toledo Local Police, Washington Township Police and every other Barney Fife they can round up, set up a massive ambush several times per year. Using aircraft (Which was technically illegal until a recent change in the Ohio Revised Code…This illegal action on the part of the government was blatantly ignored…so the law was changed) and motorcycles on the LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD, INCHES FROM TRAFFIC, CAUSING ALERT MOTORISTS TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION this land and air based armada ambush THOUSANDS of drivers, the multiple times per year this assualt takes place.
Vehicles heading southbound from Michigan must decelerate rapidly (with little warning) from a somewhat reasonable 70MPH to 60MPH. The road is 3 lanes in each direction, smooth and protected by a tall median wall. (other than the Garbage on both sides, it resembles an autobahn).
The ambush takes place at the begining of the 60 MPH zone, where multiple jurisdictions meet

A tip…If you do get caught up in this travesty of "highway safety" GO TO COURT.
IN Ohio a traffic citation, issued by an officer is entitled to the same due process as a murder charge.

In Lucas County at least, you can file motions, they schedule pretrial hearings, and conduct real, honest trials, just any other legal case. (no jury trials for speeding cases however).

Everytime I have been caught in this farcical joke, after multiple hearings and government initiated "needs to reschedule" the officer has always been "unable to appear due to critical training requirements!"

Beware!

West Alexis Road near Whitmer

Toledo, OhioNov 26, 20120 Comments

Sneaky set up. Speed limit on main thoroughfare is 40-45 mph,
but apparently profit-making out of state concern has a recording device near intersection…specifically geared to entrap unsuspecting motorists!\
This is to be avoided at all costs. City handing (or trying to hand out
$120 tickets) to innocent, law-abiding drivers who will soon avoid both this thoroughfare and best avoid the entire city! Did not see any “fair” sign or warning indicators in the immediate area. This from a motorist who drove 5,000 miles in two months w/o any “incident” other than the late-in-the month “let’s balance our budget” Toledo crowd. AVOID this entrapment.
You are forewarned.
