Utica, Ohio Speed Traps

the speed drops from 55mph to 35mph for a mile or so then you come to a traffic light at Main St. (OH 13) and immediately after the light it’s up to 50mph. however, if the light turns yellow and you speed up to get through it, you could be nailed (I was) even though the 50mph sign can’t be more than about 150 feet from the intersection.

Utica PD and various other LEOs like to sit along US62 South in either Jeep Cherokee or Crown Vic cruisers. Speed limit is suddenly dropped from 55 to 50 on a 1/2 mile downhill slope that leads into the town. Since the town is not visible, and the sign is hard to see at night, this is a very lucrative trap. Tickets are constantly being issued there for 55 in a 50. Be careful.
