Interstate 90 East near Dirt Ramp on South Side

Willoughby Hills, OhioJul 16, 20070 Comments

Posted speed is 60 MPH on the 3 lane local lane interstate with generally light to moderate traffic. As you head north on 90 you turn east and pass under a few overpasses into Willoughby Hills. As you head downhill, the officer sits to the right (South Side)at the top of the dirt road next to the weigh station/depot. Typical traffic speeds are 70-80mph here since it is very open with clear visibility. There is currently construction a few miles beyond. Although I feel they should actively patrol the construction zone, I was told that this is not their jurisdiction.

State Highway 91 near Right before the secondary entrance to Chagrin Reservation

Willoughby Hills, OhioAug 15, 20050 Comments

I was shocked at how aggressive the cops are along this corridor. Speed limit is 40 but the flow of traffic is typically 50. Funny thing is they use the same spot every time – the dirt road right before the entrance to the Metropark. If you are going north on 91, simply slow down to 40 until you reach the 2nd entrance to the metropark at which point you can increase to 50 since I have yet to see a cop sit past that point. This trap is mainly aimed to get Progressive employees coming out of White Rd onto 91 since the typical reaction is to get home ASAP after work.

Maplegrove, east of Rt. 91 (near I-90)

Be aware that during nice weather, Willoughby Hills has a motorcycle unit–it is really hard to spot when he pulls to the side of the road. While Maplegrove is a favorite hangout, you’ll also see him on the I-90 – I271 split, Chardon road and Eddy road. I’m always looking for the patrol cars, but I’m rarely looking for motorcycle cops. Beware!

Eddy rd before and after the freeway overpass and anywhere on eddy rd.

eddy rd at the freeway overpass both directions. Also the sit at the eddy rd-rockefeller rd intersection way up in the illuminating co drive. They catch people running the stop signs at that intersection.

Chardon Rd

This whole little city is set up with 25mph zones fed by 35 mph zones from all directions.. All the tickets written are for 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.. (for max fines) the officers won’t show you on their radar how fast you were really going. ps.. they recently builted a new city hall.. they found a way to pay for it.
