Contract sheriff deputies setup on Hwy 85A through town; most often they hide on the west side of the Horse Creek bridge, in the Bank of the Lakes parking lot, and along Hwy 85A near Jerry’s Dock.

If ticketed, keep receipt of ticket and payment. A class action lawsuit is likely to be filed soon. Deputies are issuing, and the municipal court is collecting, fines above the amount authorized by town code.

I am the guy everyone passes on the road poking along. I was traveling from Grove to Vinita at 6:30PM taking the curves doing the 55 limit. Entered the town of Bernice and passed a big tin barn on my right, there sat the city law, and out he came with his lights on. Nailed me for doing 54 in a 45 zone. 6 cars may have gone by during the ticket process. $145 on my wedding anniversay day. Ouch.
