Clayton Police set at the edge of town by the DJ’s Distibution Warehouse on Highway 2. It looks like you are heading out of town but the sppeed limit on this highway is still 25,35 and 45 miles per hour until you are about a mile out of town. They also hide at the ballfields during baseball and softball games. The speed limit around the ballparks are 15 miles per hour and is very easily broken. Most people from visiting teams leave Clayton unhappy because they get stopped for going 20 miles per hour and get a $90.00 speeding ticket. The police also set on the hill at the edge of town on highway 271 and the sppeed limit starts dropping way before town. The city limit sign is seen before you go over the hill and the town is still 1/2 mile away. The limit drops to 55 before you can even see a building and then it drops again to 45 as you drop over the hill and they will be sitting on top of the hill waiting. They stopped a man the other day for going 30 mph in a 25 and kept him for 25 minutes. The guy had just gotten a new job in town so the next night he drove 15 mph in the 25 zone and got stopped again for going to slow and was questioned for 30 minutes this time. They will stop you in clayton if your tag light is out. They don’t have much to doin claton but work traffic. The sad thing about that is the school and business’s in town are getting vandelized while they are hiding to catch a speeder. Be careful before coming into Clayton, leaving town or going to a ballgame. They are looking for out of town tags and don’t have much mercy.
