Coweta, Oklahoma Speed Traps
State Highway 51 through Coweta, OK
The city of Coweta, OK school zone signs do not have the blinking warning lights that are the custom elsewhere, and the time is in effect until 08:45am.
The city police stopped me at 08:42am. In recent months I have observed that indeed Coweta, OK has become a speed trap. I will avoid this city and spend my tax dollars elsewhere.
Intersections of S. Ave. G & E. Pecan and Guthrie & E. Pecan
Stop signs at these intersection are close to the RR track. Officers sit in junk dealer’s lot and watch both intersections. BIG $$$$$-maker for city of Coweta as officers give tickets for running stop signs. “Rolling” stops are not allowed.
US Highway 51 near Blue Bell Ice Cream Plant
From Blue Bell all the way through Coweta speed limits drop from 55 to 40, back to 55 truck crossing 45, back to 55, in front of Wal-mart 40. Locals slam on the brakes at these changes, use your cruise control and set it at 1 mph under posted speed. Best bet is to take the Turnpike and go around.
161st Street near State Highway 72
Come over the hill and the highway patrol is there to get ya… Bunch of farmers driving out there going 5 mph. Dont pass…. I don’t understand why the big importance of watching such a small street. When there is so much real crime out there….
