Near city limits on east side of this tiny town

Dibble, OklahomaNov 02, 20200 Comments

The region is Extremely hilly, very nearly like a “washboard” with the hills running north to south. The approach from the east side of the tiny town on State Highway 39 is profusely marked with a speed reduction to 55, and travelers crest the final hill on the east side of town while slowing to 55 to find a sudden 45 speed limit, invisible until the hill is crested. An enforcement vehicle (City of Dibble Police) sits very near the abrupt speed limit reduction.
My enforcement officer was polite, professional and easy to get along with.
The town is clearly desperate for revenue from out-of-locality motorists.

Hwy 39 and 2nd Street going west as you enter Dibble

Dibble, OklahomaApr 08, 20150 Comments

As you enter Dibble from the east only, the speed drops 55,45,35.

There is no warning that at the 35mph sing there are 3 speed limets posted.

35mph and 25mph on the same sing post and next to it a 30mph when flashing sing.

Only the 35mph letters are large Enough to pick out far enough away to slow down by the time you can read the other two its to late.

The officer sits on a side street that points at the sign, behined some trees at the corner of HWY 39 and 2nd st with the office sitting on Hayhurst av pointing west.

He will write you up for over the speedlimit in a school zone, the light is always flashing so no matter what time of day it is the speed is always 30mph or less the other 2 signs dont matter.

officers paid by tickets because of limited sales tax base collections. More revenue generated by tickets than sales tax.
