Hardesty, Oklahoma Speed Traps
Hwy 412
I’m from Guymon which is just up the road from Hardesty. Hardesty is the gateway to the rest of the state out east, and it’s this fact that allows the town to function at all. Every single occupant in Texas county knows about this trap. The other reports below are utterly true. Do NOT speed. Definitely drive 5 under if you have out of state plates. Good luck
Highway
80% of town revenue from speeding tickets. Drive under the speed limit. If out of state tag you most likely will be stopped. Avoid this town if possible.
State Highway 412
This very small town is known for issuing the most tickets of any in OK. Cops sit on the side of the road hiding behind buildings, trees, or in business parking lots. I suggest you go 5 MPH under the limit. I was warned prior to going thru this town and sure enough I have seen officers each time thru. I go thru once a month sometimes more. Always 2x per day I do go thru and they are on the side of the road waiting.
Texas county, Oklahoma
Town population 200, several brand new police cars. 10:30 Fri night, main hiway, no traffic. Police tell you to call town clerk to have speed reduced so as not to reflect on your record ( also doesn’t get counted to State to count as speed trap)
