Minco, Oklahoma Speed Traps
US Highway U.S. 81
South of the city, located on the extreme outskirts. City police position behind a hill with an unmarked patrol car. Speed is posted at 45 MPH just before the trap. Because of the location most drivers will assume that they have exited the city and resume normal highway speed.
State Highway US-81 near Interstate I-40
45MPH signs are posted well before the city limits, deceiving the driver to think it is a 55 or 60 MPH zone, signs are not very easy to spot
US Highway 81
Traveling south through the town, observe the speed limits. When you go through or clear the town, you think you are clear to speed up on highway 81. But, the 45 MPH limit still has you in its clutches. There is no 55MPH sign and the 65 MPH sign is past the policeman/woman. There is a a hill just south of town, and the policeman/woman hides behind the hill. When you top that hill thinking you are smooth sailing on the highway, and there are no houses or crossroads there to make you think otherwise, or that you are still in town, YOU’RE BUSTED. I hope they can sleep at night…after legally hijacking the public.. it’s a $90 robbery……
Hwy 81
As you come into Minco from the south going north its 55 then 45 then 35 then stop sign. Then 35 45 55 65. Within a mile there are places you can’t see them parked until its too late. Also as you leave Minco the boundry has moved almost to Union City so your still in Minco city limits.
