Norman, Oklahoma Speed Traps
Gray Street
When traveling west on Gray St. there is usually an officer waiting somewhere near the post office or behind the old Hobby Lobby store. This is definitely a speed trap! Don’t go over 30 mph or you will get a ticket. I’ve seen 3 people pulled over within a quarter mile of each other in one day.
Flood Street near Robinson Street
When exiting I-35 at 70mph north campus exit/flood st speed limit changes to 55mph, then 45mph, then after Robinson street it goes to 25mph.
I’ve seen the police dept with people pulled over in the 25mph zone all the time. 25 mph seems awfully slow when you can go 1/4 west of flood to berry road and go 30mph.
Chautauqua Avenue near Lindsey Street
Driving north on Chautauqua Ave., between Timberdell Rd. and Lindsey St., a unit will be in one of the fraternity house parking lots on the east side of the road.
North Flood Avenue near Rock Creek Road
Travelling southbound, Flood Ave. begins as an exit off of I-35 south with only a few traffic lights between the ramp and Rock Creek. If the lights are aligned, the tendency is to maintain highway speeds all the way. At Rock Creek, the limit suddenly changes to 45, that is where the radar is. If not there, they are frequently sitting one light further south at Lexington or Westheimer where the limit is reduced to 35 mph.
Lindsey Street near Berry Road
On Lindsey St between Pickard and Berry. There is a old driveway tucked in between some trees on the north side. One officer will be hidden in there shooting his radar gun, and another one will be down the road flagging the speeders over.
