Okmulgee, Oklahoma Speed Traps
US Highway 75 near Pat’s archery
traveling south on hyw 75 as you come into okmulgee. there is a black and white patrol car that is parked in the pat’s archery parking lot facing oncoming traffice. this patrol car is occupied by a dummy pretending to run radar. a few feet south of this car is a "build to suit" sign that is hiding the real patrol car that does run ka radar.
State Highway 75 north
hwy 75 north when entering town when speed limit changes from 65 to 55 an officer is usually parked in the cemetary parking lot on a hill and can not be seen until it is to late.
HWY 75 South
This area was recently taken over by the City and is patrolled very heavily, particularly AM and PM rush hour. Right around Blue Ribbon Chevrolet the speed decreases to 55mph from 65mph and immediately after that it goes to 45mph. Theyre usually sitting in Best Western parking lot. Be advised you wont get any breaks. Another one is directly in front of this one, through the light past Okmulgee Bingo, the speed decreases to 35 mph from 45mph. Usually theyre sitting on the West side of the highway at a red building on the corner or on the east side of the highway in a field right next to a white house. In either case you cant see them until its too late.
US75 in town
8:12 on a Saturday morning with very light traffic, ticketed for 42 mph. Cost was $140.
Highway 75 (Tulsa, OK to Dallas, TX)
Normally I watch for speed traps in small Oklahoma towns. This trap is on a major (4) lane highway between Okmulgee and Henryetta, OK. The speed limit is (55) and I was driving safely slowing down for a (45) mph sign coming into Okmulgee (traveling north). Fine for doing 71 in a 55 = $165.00. I travel this road 3 to 4 times a year and always see someone pulled over in this "speed trap" little town.
