Pond Creek, Oklahoma Speed Traps

I was driving hwy 60 into Pond Creek and the speed limit jumps from 55 to 35 I start slowing down. From out of no where here comes a police officer. He was very rude! I told him I was trying to slow down and he said well you just wasn’t fast enough, I clocked you in at 51 in a 35. Then he goes back to his car to write my ticket and brings me a self addressed envelope to mail my payment back in! This is definitely a speed trap!

Upon intering the City of Pond, Creek, Oklahama on US 81 northboud (northbound in name, actually heading due east at this point), the speed limit drops abruptly from 65 to 35 with a cop running radar at the 35 MPH sign.

The city has a population of abotu 800, a land area of 0.9 square miles and an average home value of $30,000, so there is obviously not much of a tax base. Also, two weeks later, when I went by the city hall to do some research for my defense, I was told that the police department was closed for a week while the chief was on vacation.

Obviously a police department that exists for public safety never closes.
