Waukomis, Oklahoma Speed Traps
US Highway 81
Waukomis is just South of Enid Oklahoma. They have annexed a mile or two of 81 in both directions. Speed limits are strictly enforced and a few miles over gets you ticketed. I’ve never been stopped there, it’s just a well known local speed trap.
US Highway 81 near Drummond blacktop
City patrols highway for approximately 5 miles of U.S. Highway. There are only two intersections that pose a traffic hazard. Both have moderate traffic and are used by school buses. Outside of those two intersections, there are 4.80 miles of open fields and divided four lane highway. The white police car will patrol up and down this 5 mile stretch ticketing both locals and visitors, but especially out of towners. Flashing caution lights and a reduced speed of 35 through the two intersections would be more effective and safer, but where’s the profit in that?!
HWY 80 that passes right through town
Small town police here ( 2 of them total) sit on the west side of the HWY 81 in an abandoned business parking lot, either hidden in the night time or behind large parked farm equipment. The speed goes from 65 to 55 to 45 in about a one block distance, and this is if you are going either north or south
