MRC – Quebec provincial cop is hiding behind an overpass with his radar gun. he’s getting people just coming from Ottawa.

Johnston Road and Kiwanis Court/Tapiola Crescent

Cops frequently park themselves on Tapiola Crescent and walk up to Johnston Road pointing their radar guns at cars heading eastbound on Johnston Rd between the 2 Tapiolas. This is a cash cow for the City of Ottawa – straight line road with nothing but trees on both sides, no cross street for a full kilometre. Speed limit 50 kph. 90% of drivers are doing over 60 kph. Do the math. Btw, I’ve lived around the corner for over 20 years, never seen an accident on this stretch. Sick money grab.

Riverside, next to Malhotra Crescent

Using the curve to hide, they catch drivers speeding up coming from Hunt Club on the South, or going North on riverside. They just park on the median, often with an unmarked car. Since Riverside looks like a highway in that spot, most people forget is a 50 km/h zone. I have seen them often during the week (although my wife got caught on a Saturday)

Aviation Parkway between Montreal Road and Cité Collégiale

I have seen that trap set up quite often, both northbound and southbound. The speed limit is 60 km/h (40 miles/hour); however, it is easy to go 50 km over, especially when you come from highway 417 exit 113.

For the northbound trap, is is set up near the entrance to La Cité or that to CMHC, just as you come out of a curve in the roadway. The southbound trap is generally set up in or near the entrance to La Cité, where the cruisers hide behind trees.

Heron Rd west off Riverside (just before the bridge)

Ottawa, OntarioNov 02, 20110 Comments

On Heron Rd (Westbound) between Riverside and Prince of Whale (beside Vincent Massey Park) the Speed Limit was change to 50km due to construction on the bridge. They catch just before the 50km sign (they usually sit on the right side) going west
