Scarborough, Ontario Speed Traps
There is a relatively long stretch on Lawrence without stoplights between Celeste Dr. and Guildwood Parkway where drivers tend to speed up as they cross the bridge going over the GO Train tracks. The cops set up just around the corner on Dale Road to catch people going west. The guy with the radar gun is usually standing behind a light post, so you won’t see him until he walks out onto the road to signal you to pull over. If you drive in the leftmost lane you’re probably less likely to get pulled over than if you’re driving in the rightmost lane.
As you go northbound proceeding under the CN Rail underpass going Northbound on Midland, the officer and radar will will be on the top of the hill on the right as you start to climb the hill. Ususally several times per week from 7 am and in the afternoon after 4pm. This used to be a 60km/hr zone for the past 40 years and only recently became a 50 zone only for the purposes of being a speed trap as there are no driveways/business entrances until well past closer to Danforth.
Cop usually waiting near bicycle lane especially during school times. Limit of 40 but people tend to go above watch out as you turn the corner.
Speed limit is 50. Traffic move usually fast – don’t get deceived, even on Sundays. There are two schools on the east side of the road. They usually park the car in a small strip mall located in between school and wait with radar on the east side of shoulder.
As you go EB on Ellesmere Road BEFORE approaching Neilson Road or Scarborough Centenary Hospital there is a very steep hill. There are 3 TPS officers who sit in a driveway when you make the ascent up the hill targeting EB drivers. The speed limit is 60km/h.
