Thunder Bay, Ontario Speed Traps
Arthur Street @ Kelly Street
Police officer will hide by the light post with a speed gun in front of the daycare. I seen him there plenty of times (and was stopped once). Mostly in the summer time
In and around the town of Upsala Ontario
They (police) rush up on you very quickly, lights flashing even at times sirens blaring. No matter how hard you try to follow the speed limits you are informed that you were going at some astronomical speed. My favorite is, "you know you were going 90 kph in a 60 kph zone"? Regardless of wether or not that’s true it doesn’t matter because they’ve got you on radar, so they say. I’ve been pulled over and ticketed twice in a matter of minutes, once coming into town and then again upon leaving. Both times i was apparently going 90 kph. Do they have to practice saying that or are they taught that during their training. Be very careful when driving in that town, they’re out there and they are waiting.
James Street just north of Victoria Ave.
Cruiser parked inside the fence at the water booster pump station pointing radar to the north on James catching on coming traffic. Speed is reduced to 40 kmph due to school zone.
11/17 Past hodder ave as you cross the bridge
As you head up the hill the OPP like to sit back on the meadian you can not see them until you are ontop of them
Arthur St. West just after Canadian Tire
Usually Tuesday to Thursday around 2-4pm the local police set up their LIDAR on the side of the road heading towards Kakabeka.
There is usually a truck parked on the side of the road with a dude pointing what looks to be a gun at you. And the cruiser is usually parked in somebody’s driveway behind some trees.
Also, beware of cops riding your blind spot and trying to get you to speed up. Several times this week driving at night, I have had the luxury of police riding in my blind spot, speeding up and then backing off to get me to speed up.
Just giving a heads up!
