Whitby, Ontario Speed Traps
Interstate 401 near Exit Number Brock Road
Directly west of the Brock Rd. Exit on the Easbound 401, there is an OPP station that has a Driveway directly onto the 401. I have been surprised that in 2 years I have never seen a speed trap there, but I did see a cop sitting on the driveway clocking motorists on March 14th, 2007. around 7:30pm
Rossland Road near East of Lakereidge
As you crest the hill over the train tracks and start down the hill going eastbound, radar set up on right side beside the hydro towers. Going westbound as you come out of the hill they are on the right side in the roadway half way up the hill.
Anderson Street near Dundas Street
Cube Van stopped just north of Dundas drives parallel to you coming very close to your vehicle. This is very intimidating. You try to get away from him to find a Police Car waiting at Frederic.
Taunton Road near Brock North Road
On east-bound Taunton Road, just before (west) of the Taunton Road and Brock Road North lights, there is a large S-curve. On a woods-bordered highway. One can only see one loop of the ‘S’ at a time.
A cruiser will stop drivers for a ticket about a mile west of this S-curve (before it) for going over 80 kph on a clear dry home-bound two-lane road.
Afterward, the driver takes off, probably angry, and resumes his normal ‘cruising’ speed heading eastbound again into the S-curve.
At the end of the S-curve, just before the lights at Brock Road North, there will be Another cruiser set up to catch either
a) the driver who got caught the first time and is venting his/her anger in a little speed, or
b) the driver who is still speeding, having patted him/herself on the back for having evaded the first cruiser.
Solution: Don’t always assume that cruisers come in "1"s and that you missed being caught. Sometimes they come in pairs, with a second one waiting further down the road in the same locale.
