Hwy 97 Parkway near Reed Market Ext. Road

Bend, OregonApr 02, 20080 Comments

Mortorcycle officers and sometimes cars sit just past the Reed Market entrance to the parkway heading north. When you see the Reed Market Ext. off the parkway, slow down as they are usually just around the corner behind Carrera Motors. Zone is 45 MPH and everyone travels at about 60. They will stop you for anything above that, and sometimes below.

3rd Bus. 97 Street near US 97 Parkway

Bend, OregonMar 04, 20080 Comments

bend pd sitting near lights waiting for someone to run the light. Yes bend has a problem with light running but during rush hour not at 11pm. But here the cops are, at Powers and 3rd- at the same time one is at 97 and 3rd (the south split). other times I have seen them there and at Murphy and 3rd. All these are on the south side of town on the "strip" of Bend(3rd street), all at lights in the 45 mph zone (not the 35 zone). weekend evenings mostly- standard pretext stop situation basically.

county sheriffs at the big turn, right by the dump. in one of the many pullouts on the northbound side. There is an x-band false in the are, but dcso does not use x-band. seen at 11pm and around lunch. do not appear to be actively using radar or lazer, but one time it was the traffic unit which has both. another time it was a pickup truck which has neither. well known spot because it is outside the city limits even though the rest of the road is in the city limits on both sides.
