Corvallis, Oregon Speed Traps
Conifer Boulevard near State Highway 99W
In between Hwy 99 and the Conifer House, there is a very slow stretch heading west after Cheldelin Middle School gets off. You could have 20 cars/buses in front and you’ll be waiting a while. Sometimes a motorcycle cop will wait in the apartments on the south side of Conifer by the RR tracks. They wait for people who cross the median way too soon and when you do, they’ll be there and get you. I’ve seen it several times. Even though it sucks waiting forever, it’s better to wait, then get a yellow coupon from the CPD.
State Highway 99W near State Highway 34 overpass
As you approach Corvallis from the south on 99W, after passing over the railroad tracks near Ricks Oil (west side) the posted speed limit is 35mph. At or very near the Highway 34 overpass the speed limit drops to 25mph. At this point you are passing beneath the overpass and 99W makes a fairly sharp turn to the right (north). Police park behind the overpass supports and cannot be seen until it is too late. Traffic commonly moves at 35-45mph in this area, as city streets do not start until just past the overpass. This is a well known area for traffic stings.
West Hills Road near Sunset Drive
Motorcycle patrol sits in the church parking lot or in the drive of one of the residences. The speed limit is 25 coming out of a 45 and you must slow down going down a hill. It is a residential area and limited sight distance, so the speed limit is legit.
SE 3rd Street near SE Alexander Street
City police frequent this school zone area where the posted limit drops from 35mph to 20mph from 7am to 5pm. You should not be speeding in a school zone anyway. They like to "hide" in the Les Schwab Tire parking lot.
SE 3rd Street near Mary’s River
Frequently located on side street just north of where 3rd St crosses the Mary’s River going into downtown Corvallis. Posted speed has changed from 35mph to 25mph.
