US Highway 199 near Mile Marker 1 through 8

Grants Pass, OregonJun 07, 20071 Comments

I’ve been driving this stretch of road for over 30 years. The Oregon State Troopers work in tandem here as well as the Josephine County Sheriff. The speed limit drops from 55mph to 45mph on a downhill run. Its a 4 lane highway that used to be 55mph all the way. I’ve only been stopped once but I have literally seen many hundreds of traffic stops over the years on this stretch. They also use Unmarked cars and there are lots of hiding spaces to view you from.

F street and 9th street

Grants Pass, OregonNov 11, 20030 Comments

As you follow F street into the downtown district, there is a small strip-mall with ample hiding room for police, usually on motorcycles. The speed limit drops from 30mph to 20mph due to the congested nature of the downtown area an intersection between 9th and F streets with poor visibility.

20 mph zone in a high traffic busy business area. You can rarely drive down Union Ave. and NOT see a police officer.

State Troopers are in marked cars on side of freeway on edge of Grants Pass as you are driving into town. They are usually half covered by the trees making them hard to see until you drive by.
