Original: Emigrant in front of Hawthorne School (between 13th and 15th)

New: Emigrant in front of Pendleton Early Learning Center (originally Hawthorne School) between 13th and 15th

Taking up a full block, The Pendleton Early Learning Center is between SW 13th and SW 15th St and SW Emigrant and SW Frazier. The speed trap is on Emigrant (a one-way street) and Pendleton police consider drivers fair game after they cross the railroad tracks on Emigrant near 12th St.

It’s considered a speed trap because police cite drivers ever after the children are no longer on the premises (they leave between 2:30 and 3:30pm), 20MPH signs are posted just after the railroad tracks and drivers may not see them because their focus is on the change in road elevation as they drive over the raised tracks. There are no blinking lights to remind you of your speed and it’s easy to get a ticket if you’re going regular speed. So, after the railroad tracks, so slow down to 20 – for 2 blocks – or get a $170 ticket.

I-84 Westbound between exits 210 and 209 – For Truckers only

Pendleton, OregonMar 24, 20170 Comments

Oregon state police regularly (every evening during good weather) stop truckers just west of exit 209 (in front of the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution). They chase them down the hill between exits 210 and 209, and find some reason to give them a ticket. The truckers are usually pulled over just west of exit 209.

I-84 West Bound 2 miles out of town.

Pendleton, OregonMar 24, 20171 Comments

Approximately 2 miles east of Pendleton, police sit in the median between lanes. It’s low, so most drivers heading West Bound don’t see them until it’s too late. Slow down to 70mph after exit 216. Truckers with burnt out lights or any other minor infraction are encouraged to get repairs before entering Pendleton, especially on nice weather evenings.
