River Drive just over the hill out of town

Danville, PennsylvaniaApr 12, 20101 Comments

This is a long straight road along side of train tracks…
The cop sits in the driveways hiding by brush..
the unit used is the EnRadd setup…
It uses a double beam that is 3ft. apart and times you as you go through..
only way to see it is the small holders on both sides of road….
This is hard to spot and very good system…..
can get out of ticket if the unit was not calibrated in a timely matter..
they usually set it for a high speed to lock out lower speeders..

US Highway 11 near Burger King

Danville, PennsylvaniaNov 15, 20040 Comments

This trap is located on US 11 as you come into or out of the south end of the borough. The cop tends to hide at Scott’s Floral down from the Burger King, and at night, you can’t even tell if a cop is there. This speed trap nabs people who begin to accelerate towards 55 MPH – the speed limit of the highway – but have not left the 35 MPH limit of the borough.

East Market Street

Danville, PennsylvaniaMar 22, 20030 Comments

Trap is presently (March 2003) set at East Market and Honeymoon Avenue. Cruiser is concealed in the alley to the west of Honeymoon on the south side of East Market. However, this location may change, as no permanent markers are used. Look out for a pair of dirty orange traffic cones, and a pair of white wiper fluid jugs. Equipment is a VASCAR cousin known as V-Spec, all the principles and operation are similar to VASCAR. Traveling east the cruiser is not seen until the clocking begins, travelling west, the cruiser may be hidden behind parked vehicles. Enforcement has recently become almost daily, but will change as schedules and level of surprise diminishes. It is usually done after dark, on a course that is too short to be accurate, and has significant flaws in layout. Coincidentally, it has recently been reactivated after a long dormancy. A balanced municipal budget may be motivation to ignore the defeat in court of this speed trap several years ago.
