Dickson City, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
Commerce Boulevard
Cars traveling North on Commerce Boulevard in the area of Home Depot are clocked by Dickson City police who hide in the drive thru of the First Liberty bank. They sometimes use an unmarked car. There is a heavy flow of traffic in this area, since the Walmart superstore is nearby. The speed limit is 25mph, and the police are enforcing this rigidly. To make matters worse, they usually set this trap up early on Sunday morning, when most people do not expect it. I have seen several cars pulled over in less than an hour while having coffee at a restaurant that faces Commerce Blvd. This occurs almost every weekend, and people never see it coming.
US Highway Bus. Rt. 6
Next to Shorten Homes, between the lights for the K-Mart main entrance and Commerce Blvd. Speed limit is 35MPH here and the road is five lanes wide. This isn’t often watched, but it’s difficult to tell until you’re upon the trap. The police usually sit in the K-Mart access road between Pep Boys and the old fuel station, sitting next to the trees that line it.
Main Avenue
I wouldn’t really call it true "trap," but just overactive police officers most definately generating revenues for Dickson City. I used to live in PA and have very "wonderful" memories of first getting my license and getting hassled at the age of 17 almost monthly on N Main Ave. Very aggresive trap targetted toward youth especially on Friday and Saturday night during the summertime-cruising season. Be very careful from the anchor to the light on the bottom of viewmont drive.
