Going South on Route 15 just past the West Fairview Light

Enola, PennsylvaniaJun 07, 20140 Comments

If you are traveling from Interstate 81 South on Route 15, watch out! This is a favorite road for this township to make money. The road winds past Kristy’s Whistle Stop on the right, then crosses over the railroad tracks which lead into the Enola Freight Yards. You are going downhill and naturally pick up speed. By the time you go through the light into West Fairview, most folks are hitting 50, and the dividing of the highway into a split road four lane — two lanes on each side — adds to the sense that you are not going that fast. The police hide up the road behind the car wash on the right.
I lived there for years and saw as many as four police cars working this strip. Guess they had a heavy quota to make that day. A couple of years ago, the Harrisburg Patriot News ran a story on the now-deceased chief of police and how in 20 years he had written just short of 10,000 tickets.

11 N/11 S near Market Stree Light

While traveling 11N beware of marked/unmarked car after market street light. As the road splits in to two lanes motorist tend to speed and in the curve police will be hiding. Usually they will plant the speed trap device, which you can see on the left/right side and will wait for you at the end of the curve.

In 11N after south street, before “Kristy Whistle shop” the police will be hiding next to the hill. You wont be able to see him.

While traveling 11S after “Econo lodge” (left side) the road splits in to two lanes and the police will be waiting near the Market street light. Due to double lane motorist tend to speed (beyond 35 MPH).

Valley Road @ Rt. 11/15

The local police will put an unmarked car just off the 81 North off ramp and use the vascar system to clock you. The units that will be pulling you over will be parked along the side of the road on Valley road far enough back that you will not see them till you are passing the intersection.

East Penn Drive just east of Highmark

Enola, PennsylvaniaSep 09, 20101 Comments

The local police will be sitting back in pull off areas designated for the employees of highmark that must leave the property to smoke. This is a 35 mph zone but is a straight away so the PD get many speeders through this section.

US Highway 11 near E. Columbia Road

US 11 feels like a country road at this point, especially if you’ve just left I-81 at exit 65. Watch out for Town Patrol on right near carwash and small businesses.
