Further down they will sit in the Prompton Tool parking lot opposite Clarks Sunrise Market. Sometimes there will be one in each of these places. You cannot see them until it’s too late.

VASCAR In Use — Watch for white lines across roadway.

Honesdale, PennsylvaniaJan 12, 20101 Comments

Honesdale has numerous areas designated for speed enforcement. The police use VASCAR instead of Radar by state law. All of the regular 25 mph speed watch zones have white lines painted across the roadway at various intervals apart to allow for timing between the lines, similar to airborne speed enforcement. Leading speed trap zones are PA Route 6 entering town from either the east or the west and from south from the north on PA Route 191 entering and leaving town. Most all are at the bottom of hills.

Traveling east into town down the big hill a police car will be sitting where the road levels out near the car wash or beer distributor and speed limit lowers to 25mph. They get a lot of truckers still going fast down the steep hill before they can slow down enough.
