Macungie, Pennsylvania Speed Traps
State Route 100 near Tilghman Street
There is now a campaign going on where a white Ford Explorer is sitting on the Northbound side of RT 100 just as you cross tilghman street.
In front of the explorer is a small tripod set up, across the street is another tripod with a reflector(?) or sensor. They time people going through there and once you begin going up the hill there are as many as 3-4 marked cars sit and wait to pull you over and ticket you.
One day I went through and there were 2 motorcycles pulled over, each by a marked car and one car pulled over by an unmarked.
Very frustrating watching 3 cops standing there writing tickets no more than a 1/4 mile apart. If this isn’t ridiculous I don’t know what is.
State Route 100 near Tilghman Street
Township(?) police will sit in small areas right at the park on Rt. 100. They will sit in small clearing just as you come over the hill going North coming from Tilghman St. They will also sit in the two entrances to the park.
There may also at times be a state trooper sitting in the entrance to the small water station across from the park to catch people going South as they come around the corner from the traffic light at Applewood.
The limit here used to be 55 until a recent change to 45 due to numerous accidents at the intersection of Rt 100 and Claussville Rd.
Interstate 78 near Nestle
There is a notice on the highway that speed enforcement, but not by airplane like listed on 222. The state police catch you by airplane and then about a quarter-mile or so afterwards they have another officer to pull you over usually after you have reduced you speed. I was pulled over from what the ticket says about 10 to 15 min. later.
State Highway 100 near Through Town
This one is for my fellow truckers, and it has nothing to do with speed but it is relevent, rte. 100 is prohibited to common 8’6" wide 53 ft trailers, but I can never find the sign going SB, (i’ve looked). If you go through Macungie there will be an officer waiting for you, neighbors say he gets about 50 trucks a day. The fine is $400 Take alt. routes
State Highway 100 near Lehigh County
Heavy Enforcement all throughout the Borough of Macungie…. they nail both speeders and commercial vehicles for over-size violations. Be aware!
